The Raging Sea of Insecurity
Have you ever felt insecure in your calling or position in life? Has there been days were you gaze at what lies on your plate and you think, “There is no way I can do this!”
Maybe you’re a mama with little ones you are trying your best to tend to as your husband works out of town. Or a mother facing the many daily challenges of educating and homeschooling your children. Perhaps you are a business woman with endless job demands that seem to grow more by the second, or even a wife that is in a season where she is called to love and care for her husband during a very difficult time.
No matter your position I think we all as woman can relate to the intense and overwhelming feeling of insecurity in our abilities to move forward each day and manage all of life’s demands.
These times can make us question ourselves:
“Are we doing the right thing?”
“Is this really what God wants for me?” and
“How can I possibly handle another day like this?”
Our insecurities and state of stress, lead us to ponder these questions, and as these questions swim through our mind, their powerful current begin to drag us deeper out into the sea of doubt.
How we long for an anchor in those deep seas, something to tie us down and keep us from floating farther and farther away from our rightful place and position.
And yet, that is exactly what we have. Hebrews 6:9 reminds us that,
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
Our anchor is our hope. Our hope is in Jesus.
That He will never fail us nor leave us. That He will never lead us down the wrong path, or withhold his grace and strength from us. That no matter the tasks that lie ahead of us, or the heaviness of the burdens we carry, we will not do it alone, we will not get lost out in the sea.
Our anchor will keep us firm and secure. We can cling to it as the waters begin to rage and the waves beat down on our spirit.
We can hold on, and trust that the God who beat death itself is strong enough to carry us through the most arduous seasons of life.
Ladies, let us never forget that even while we are in the middle of our questions, the middle of our struggles, in the middle of our insecurities, that Christ is our anchor, our center, and He will always guide us by His strong and mighty hand.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for being my anchor that holds me in place. I believe you have positioned me to prosper me, and although there are days that I feel I am lost in the raging seas of insecurity I know you are with me. Help me to always answer the questions in my mind with the truth of Your words and who You are. Help me to proclaim your truths when I am in the face of my fears, and live out the life you have planned for me. In your name, Amen.
