Finding YOUR Place

When you travel a lot, you find some pretty interesting places.  While driving through a rural area in the south, I saw a restaurant with this sign attached “There is no place like this place, so this must be THE PLACE.”  The name of the restaurant was “The Place” so the sign made perfect sense.  You might be thinking, “oh how I wish it was just that easy to find the place God has for me.”  If God would provide a ‘sign’ or a GPS signal, a map or a ‘star’ would make it so much easier to know for sure you have arrived at the place where God wants you.

One thing is for sure, God wants us to be in the right place.  He has promised to direct our steps and lead us to the place of fulfillment, opportunity and service.  But, we do need His guidance, instruction and direction.  When we wait on Him, seek His guidance and watch for the open door, His word will direct our steps.   “God appeared to Abram and said, ‘I will give this land to your children.’ Abram built an altar at THE PLACE God had appeared to him.” Genesis 12:7 MSG.

I truly appreciate my home even more now that I am on the road so much more for ministry.  When I turn down the lane to my house, a sweet peace washes over me and I can’t wait to get settled back in to the place I call home.  It just feels so good.  I also believe that as God is directing our steps and we feel led to the ‘the place’ He has for us, it will feel like coming ‘home.’  Trust His leading.  Rely on the Word of God to back up your decision.  But, ultimately, you need to have that inner peace about the place you are moving into…it should feel like coming ‘home.’

What I can promise you is that ultimately God is preparing a ‘place’ for us with eternity in mind.  No matter what life may have brought your way, you can rest assured that in heaven God not only has a place, but a mansion awaiting you!  “I am going there to prepare a place for you” John 14:2 NIV.  When we as Christians die, we go straight into the presence of Christ – straight to that place, strait to that mansion in Heaven to spend eternity with God.  We are simply changing our address girlfriends and taking up a new residence in Heaven!
